Tbilisi is a city of balconies, hills and long feasts. It's compact: you can walk to most of what matters and reach the rest by taxi or funicular.
The Old Town
The Abanotubani sulphur baths, Narikala Fortress above the river, and the narrow streets of Sololaki with carved wooden balconies and grand entrance halls. In the evening, the lit-up Bridge of Peace and the city view from the cable car.
Neighbourhoods
Rustaveli Avenue has theatres, museums and the main promenade. Vake is green and calm, with cafés and a park. Fabrika on the left bank is a former sewing factory turned bars, workshops and a courtyard that stays busy late. The Dry Bridge hosts a flea market with Soviet objects and paintings.
Food and wine
Khinkali, khachapuri and qvevri wine are everyday life here, not a tourist programme. Natural wine bars are a reason to visit on their own.
Nearby
For a day trip, Mtskheta, the ancient capital with UNESCO-listed monuments, and the vineyards of Kakheti. More ideas in our guide Things to do in Tbilisi and in Events.
