New York is a city you get to know best by walking its neighbourhoods. Each one has its own life, and they're easy to walk between.
Parks
Central Park is worth half a day: lakes, bridges, Bethesda Terrace and a rental bike. The High Line is a park on an old elevated railway above Chelsea.
Museums
The Metropolitan Museum on the edge of Central Park, MoMA in Midtown, the Guggenheim, and the Whitney at the start of the High Line.
Neighbourhoods
The West Village and SoHo are for wandering without a plan. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to DUMBO for the Manhattan view. Williamsburg has bars, coffee shops and vintage stores.
Views and evenings
Skyscraper observation decks and a Broadway show. You can see the Statue of Liberty from the free Staten Island Ferry. Places and events are in Places and Events.
